Is a 3D Printer in Your Home’s Future?

3D Printers are getting ready for in-home enjoyment

I’ll be honest, I still have not thought of what I would use a 3D printer for – but yet again when computers first came out, I didn’t think that I need or wanted one.  Now I don’t know what I would so without one.

I guess it all depends on whether you have a good imagination now and can think of all the possibilities or when they are available for personal use they give us enough reasons why we think that we can’t live without one.

When I first saw the price I was quite taken back as they are expected to start around $1,500. Now that is a deal and a half. I remember our first simple computer, we paid over $2,200 for it and the plain and simple printer was over $300.

So for $1500 or so I can imagine that they will be huge sellers – first to small businesses as they will probably be the first ones to embrace this new technology but I can also see college kids who have been brought up on computers running with the idea and creating apps that will probably create almost anything.

Artisans and designers will most certainly enjoy it’s benefits.

If you would like to get to know more about this  wave of the future in printers – the 3D printer you can watch the video below and

With the Canon PIXMA MP495 Printer you can print photos from your HD videos

While there are many all in one wireless printer that can print, scan, fax and do everything under the sun the Canon PIXMA MP495 may not do it all but what it does do is a bit different than others.                 Canon PIXMA MP495 wireless Inkjet Printer

When I first looked at this printer I was surprised that it didn’t have a faxing option, but then I realized that first this is a printer and not a fax machine & then realized and thought about how many times I have faxed a document over the last few years.

So how often have I faxed? Once in two years and it wasn’t even recently. Now instead of faxing you just email your data and it’s much quicker and the document is clearer. So to be honest – who really uses the fax part of an all in one?

Well if you do, then this printer would not be right for you.  However if faxing is not on your list then you will quite satisfied with the features that this printer does have and with the price around $60 it’s a good deal.

Ok, so what can the Canon PIXMA MP495 do?

There are two features that jumped out at me right away as ones that I would personally use again and again.

  • I do very much like the idea of being able to make prints ( still shots) from a video that I have taken.  Have you ever tried to do that? Normally it’s quite difficult queuing up the right place on your video, then trying to grab a quick shot of it to be able to print it out.
However, with this printer the Full HD Movie Print software lets you grab exactly what you want and print it out. Just think about all of the uses this has.

With Wedding and graduations coming up you won’t have to worry about choosing between taking video or still photos and constantly switching back and forth. If you are in video mode and but are afraid of missing a shot but don’t want to stop the video, take a still, then start the video again you can print from the video.

Yes, there are times where your digital camera will be the more preferred choice for taking the photo, but there are times where the action is what you really want to show. So why stop it just for 1 shot, then restart it again? ow you don’t have to. This feature only works with compatible Canon EOS Digital SLR or PowerShot cameras.

  • My second favorite feature is the “Easy-WebPrint EX”.  How many times have you wanted to print a web page out only to have it be too wide, too long, and with too much extra stuff on it? Not only does your print out not come out the way you want them, but you waste paper and ink.

With “Easy-WebPrint EX” you can combine several web pages, move items around and format it to your liking. So if you want 3 recipes on one page but each recipe is on a different web page, you can move them around and print the page to your specifications.
While it does work well for recipes it’s also very handy when you are working on a DIY project and want to highlight different areas. Now you can place those together and print just what you need.

Your photos are limited to a 4 x 6 size but our household very rarely prints out any photos larger than that and on the rare occasion that we do, we will go to one of the Kodak kiosks and print it there.

This printer does have several other features that may be more towards your liking so to get a good look at it and what it can do just visit the Canon PIXMA MP495 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One Printer page  at –> Canon PIXMA MP495

Newest Features Of the Latest Wireless Inkjet Printers

by All-In-One-WirelessPrinter No comments »

How old is your inkjet all-in-one printer?

If your current inkjet printer is more than a year or two old there is a good chance that you may not be familiar with a few of the features of the newer printers. Yes, it’s quite surprising what the newest versions can do and although you may not need the latest technology it is good to have an idea of what is currently available so when you do start to look around you’ll get an idea of what they can do.

Now mind you this article has been created in the beginning February 2011, so if you are reading it in June or July there may be even newer features available – so just use this as a guide.

Mobile Printing
One of the coolest features available is the ability of being able to print directly from your smart phone, iPad, iPhone and other mobile devices. This is a great feature if you are often on the road or out of the office and you want to print out a document and have it ready for one of your coworkers.

It’s also a good feature if you forget to print out your several page project and only have a few minutes to pick it up. This way you can start printing while you are on the way to your office or desk and have it ready when you get there.

Internet printing
Now when you find a page that you want to print from the internet you no longer have to print the page exactly as you see it. You can take a piece from here and a piece from there and move it around to get the look and feel that you like.  You can even insert notes and edit the text and print as a standard document or as a pdf document.

Easy Printer Sharing
Do you remember the first time that you tried to network your printer to all of the computers in your home or office.
It was probably a nightmare.  However, technology has changed and networking is no longer the issue that it once was.
With many new printers you can network your desktop and a few laptops in just 5-10 minutes and in some instances it may be be a bit less.

Less Ink Use
New technology in print nozzle and print nozzle placement has made it so that the newer inkjet printer use less ink per page.
Depending on how much ink your current model uses you may save more in a year then a new printer may cost.
Compare your model to the current ones and see how your printer stands up.

Although there have been other advancements in printing, such as less ink use per page, higher quality printing, eco friendly models and more the above features are the ones that people are buzzing about.

So should you invest in a new printer?
If you mainly print in close proximity to your computer, if your current printer isn’t costing you an arm and a leg for ink and you are satisfied with the quality of your prints, then by all means keep what you currently have. Sure the newest features are fun but if you don’t need them, don’t upgrade for the heck of it.

On the other hand, if your printer is getting a bit old and you find that you are spending more on ink then you like, then it might be worth it to upgrade.
